A Thousand Little Things

I close my eyes and see the desert. I miss the quiet. I love the chaos.

I know what I miss about the desert. It's the fact there was nothing to do around the house that allowed me the ability to completely relax. When you're at home there are a thousand little things to always do. The never-ending list of things that keep you from doing nothing but also not doing anything. The list you avoid because it's not that bothersome and the benefits don't quite outweigh the effort needed to be applied to this list of things to do, so you never do them. But you also can't just sit on the porch for eight hours doing absolutely nothing but watch the birds, and not feel a little nagging guilt. There's always something preventing you from nothing. For this, I need a turnkey house when we move. I want the ability from day one to feel at home and not feel even slightly guilty about sitting on my porch. I'm sure I'll find things though, it's who I am. So then we build.
